This smooth, comforting blend is designed for the espresso drinker, although it brews great on just about any brew method. It comes from two different origins – Santos farms in Brazil and Finca El Retiro in Guatemala.
About Brazil Santos
Several farms from the Santos region contribute to this fine coffee. One of the farmers is Jose Renato Goncalves in Sertãozinho Santos. Jose takes the time to do things by hand. Trees are nurtured with organic fertilisers produced on the farm, preserving the microbial life in the soil. Coffee cherries are hand picked, ensuring only the ripest fruit is selected.
This meticulous care is the reason why the farm performs well in the prestigious Cup of Excellence competitions.
About Finca El Retiro
Finca El Retiro is located on the top of the Ayarza region. The area is well known for its beautiful nature and the amazing crater lake, “Laguna Ayarza”, which was created 20,000 years ago by a huge eruption.
The owner, Victor Hugo Martinez, is a very experienced coffee farmer and applies the best farming practices which result in a beautiful, balanced, smooth and rich cup.
The farm is Rainforest Alliance certified, meaning it has standards that are intended to protect the environment and the workers. This certification allows the farmers to have a sustainable farm management system, control costs, gain efficiency, improve crop quality, and maintain the wildlife habitat.
