Our latest micro-lot coffee bean comes from West Java and is named Moracaea. Delicious to drink, enjoy its silky smooth mouthfeel that has won the hearts of coffee lovers everywhere (if they can get their hands on it). Grown by a small collective of farmers in Garut, west of Bandung, Indonesia, the terrain of the region takes you from coastal lowlands, through rivers, mountains and fertile hills until you reach an elevation of 1,600 metres. Here you will find the Moracaea coffee bean.
An ideal coffee growing region
In this ideal coffee growing location, Moracaea, a T24/ S-Lini variety of Arabica is carefully grown and when ripe, hand-picked by the farmers of the Garut community. These farmers come together to share knowledge and resources so they can produce coffee to the best of their ability.
Dried by the sun
After being hand-picked and sorted, the beans are left to ferment overnight. They are thenĀ placed on raised beds to be dried by theĀ golden rays of the sun. This natural process produces a bean that is complex in flavour and interesting in taste characteristics.
Roast and flavour
Our Moracaea micro-lot is produced in a medium roast so that you can fully appreciate the sweet, tropical flavours of mango and lychee. The aroma is beautifully floral and an ideal preparation would be to use a filter and allow it to drip through to perfection.
It should have a smooth, clean taste and be medium bodied with prolonged sweetness on the palate. Other preparations can also be used for this beautifully flavoured bean.
MORACAEA IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. SHOP OUR OTHER LIMITED EDITION COFFEES OR SINGLE ORIGINS IN OUR COFFEES SECTION.
