This exceptional microlot that has an SCA Score of 88.5 comes from the highlands of Los Santos, Costa Rica, where third-generation producer Olman Ureña has spent over 4 years refining his craft. Coffee is more than livelihood for Olman, it is legacy. The knowledge passed down through generations has been carefully preserved, elevated, and expressed through his unwavering pursuit of quality and consistency.
The coffee is grown at Finca Toñita, named in honour of his wife María Nidia Antonia (“Toñita”), whose steadfast support has been foundational to his journey. Processed at Palmichal micro-mill, a facility established to celebrate and experiment with Costa Rica’s coffee potential, this lot benefits from close collaboration between producer and mill. The natural process enhances sweetness and fruit complexity while maintaining remarkable clarity and structure in the cup.
In the cup, expect fragrant notes of forest berry jam, dark chocolate, and floral honey. The palate opens with black tea, ripe raspberry, and toffee sweetness, supported by a syrupy, coating body. A lively acidity of pineapple and red grapes carries through to a lingering finish of honeycomb and gentle tropical brightness.
