We pay homage to Kenya! The place where it all started for Perk, Kenya was where Paul and Serena fell in love with coffee, where Serena grew up in and where Paul became a famer, and developed an appreciation for its delicious fruity coffees and the beautiful highland plantations. Kenyan coffee is typically wet-processed and is known for its powerful character and potent sweetness.
Kenya AA is in the league of the world’s best coffee beans. Grown in the Kiambu county, the harvest comes from small plots below 1 hectare, in the fertile foothills of Mount Kenya, and cherry classification and processing distinguishes what is AA and what isn’t. Only the ripest cherries are chosen, where additional hand sorting and floating provides another filter for lighter and damaged beans. The remaining rich and dark cherries are dried at a higher altitude in 30cm-thick spreads on African beds.
The result is a very clean, natural process coffee that has scored higher than any other coffee the farm has ever produced. The varietals are distinct to East Africa and Blue Mountain, making Kenya to be touted as the Earth’s most consistent product of world class coffee.
