For those of you who love our Sumatra beans, you’ll want this. We’ve specially picked this crop for our Limited Edition, as it features the rich and bold aroma that captivated you at first brew, but this time with a surprising hint of green apple and caramalized sugar. There is only 300kg to spread this beautiful coffee around the globe.
Danau Toba, also known as Lake Toba, is a large lake in North Sumatra, occupying the caldera of a supervolcano. 1 of 20 known supervolcanoes in the world, Danau Toba is the largest volcano lake in the world. It is no wonder the plantation is so lush and emerald green, providing an extraordinary fertile soil for the coffee, which are all shade grown. The village of Danau Toba has only less than 1000 people living near the volcano next to Danau Toba.
The coffee farmers of Danau Toba Village are well educated and trained to explore and develop their skills in coffee. The women who work on the coffee farms harvest the cherries by hand when they are ready. The coffee is double-picked by hand until it is almost completely free from defects, making it double picked.
Our favorite brew for this is a pour over and an espresso. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
