Why a Gooseneck Kettle will Change your Life
If you’re still on a quest to make the best pour over coffee in the world, read on! This might be an eye-opener for you.
Have you seen those fancy kettles with the bendy, thin spouts? If you’re a true coffee lover, we bet you have. And if you’ve ever thought of owning one, here are a few reasons why it might be the best move a coffee connoisseur like you could make.
Here at Perk, we’ve received SO MANY comments – claiming that a gooseneck kettle is a coffee life-changing tool.
“I used to think a gooseneck kettle was only used to make baristas look cool but ever since I got one, my coffee making experience changed completely ” – Angela, Coffee Enthusiast and Perk Coffee Customer.
Think that’s an exaggeration? It isn’t! Now, let’s dive into the world of gooseneck kettles.
Complete control over pour speed
For best pour over coffee practice, coffee experts recommend pouring your hot water in a meticulous way. Slowly start pouring from the centre of the coffee grounds to the outer rim of your filter cone and move steadily in a spiral. This is where a gooseneck kettle becomes important.
When using a normal kettle with a big spout, the hot water gushes out at an irregular speed, soaking the coffee grounds with a splash. Has that ever happened to you?
You are not alone. We’ve been there. We’ve done that. With a gooseneck kettle, these issues are a thing of the past!
A gooseneck kettle gives you control over your pour speed. You can easily achieve a consistent pour, saturating your coffee grounds evenly with water so your extraction is perfect. You can now mimic how the experts pour water over their coffee. Add a precision scale, and you might not need to pay over $7.00 for a beautiful pour over coffee again! You can do it all yourself.
Hooray to being your own barista!
Enjoy balanced coffee that tastes better (every single day)
As simple as it seems, just changing your kettle could have you on your way to perfecting your pour over technique and making a delicious cup of coffee consistently.
Once you have mastered the art of saturating your coffee grounds evenly, you will be rewarded with a balanced, rich cup of coffee that tastes better. The reason for this is that, an even pour of hot water ensures that the extraction of coffee flavours is consistent.
To go one step further, don’t forget to invest in a good grinder and a precision scale. Also keep in mind that the freshness of you coffee matters too.
It’s time to bid goodbye to imbalanced, inconsistent coffee. Your coffee making experience is about to change forever!
Now that you are sufficiently equipped with this knowledge, your next step is to choose a suitable gooseneck kettle for yourself!

TIP: While these kettles can be used on a stovetop to heat the water, we prefer boiling a kettle of water and transferring the hot boiled water into the gooseneck kettle. Be sure and wait for your water to cool before pouring so you don’t burn your coffee grounds. We recommend 90-95 degrees Celsius as an ideal temperature. Alternatively, take it off the heat when boiling and wait for a minute with the lid off.
There’s nothing tricky about using a gooseneck kettle. In no time, your coffee brewing experience will be nothing but a breeze.
It’s time to bid farewell to inconsistent and disappointing cups of coffee.
Brew can do it!
